Interview Q&A

Quite simply, to create a nicer world. I try to create a world in which friendship and kindness lead the the way to a happier, more fulfilled life.  My books aim to be a welcome tonic for the fast paced, antisocial world we live in, giving my readers a spiritual lift and hope for the future, whilst the healing services and personal development courses provide a means of making that world a reality. My characters provide a gentle opportunity for reflection, which is what makes them ideal as the entry point for The Return to You journey.

On the contrary; I feel that it is my expereince in counselling, therapy and other patient facing roles, plus life in general that gives me the ability to create realistic characters and weave aspects of personal development into my work without detracting from the story. My books are not just cosy little stories, if you let them, they can be therapeutic as well. In terms of a fan base, the people who are meant to find my books, will find them. I trust in the universe.

I trained with  the Norfolk Healer’s Association and qualified as a spiritual healer through the National Federation of Spiritual Healers nearly thirty years ago, and I have delivered healthy lifestyle services for the NHS for the last eighteen years. My courses though, are not aimed at gaining a qualification in either healing or healthy lifestyle, they are designed to be put to practical use, so that my readers and listeners can find ways to help themselves, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

You would think so, wouldn’t you? Actually, putting myself in the relaxed but focused state required to offer healing often helps my chronic fatigue and lifts my mood, and following the same advice I offer to my readers, listeners and learners, I do ensure I look after myself by following a healthy lifestyle and maintaining the pacing, planning and prioritising which is essential to keeping going.

I have faith. I believe in a higher power but do not feel a need to name that power.  I feel many religions have powerful messages that we can learn from, but I do not consider myself to be aligned with any particular religion. In the early stages of my spiritual journey I was given some really good advice, to learn about everything but to only assimilate what feels right on a personal level. It has worked well for me over the years in many subjects (though not all – mathematics for instance.) I guess the one thing I feel most strongly about when it comes to religious belief, is that it should harm none.
